Broadwing Launches Nationwide VoIP Service
for Large Multi-site Enterprises

Multi-Location solution offers National Coverage for Long Distance VoIP and
makes Local VoIP service available in 23 major markets

Chicago, IL, SUPERCOMM 2005 Tradeshow (June 6, 2005) - Broadwing Communications, LLC today launched a new era in Voice over IP (VoIP) communications by delivering the first nationwide VoIP service, built and delivered on its carrier class network, and designed to meet the needs of large multi-site enterprises with complex communications requirements.

Broadwing’s new VoIP Integrated Access service is the first nationwide, IP-based product that will interface directly with an enterprise’s existing PBX equipment. This new service integrates high-speed Internet access with local and long-distance voice, enabling large enterprises to manage data and voice communications to and from multiple office locations, across one seamless connection. In contrast with competitors who offer only select metro or limited regional service, Broadwing’s VoIP Integrated Access is available with local and long distance calling in 23 major markets, and with long distance service nationwide.

“By making it easy to IP-enable an enterprise’s existing PBX, Broadwing is expanding VoIP beyond the small and medium-sized business market and into the multi-location enterprise,” said Diane Myers, senior research analyst for Stratecast Partners. “This service introduction provides new alternatives for large enterprises. The Broadwing announcement brings a feature rich, cost effective VoIP solution set to this end of the market.”

With this new VoIP service, Broadwing is solving a key pain point for enterprises: the networking of branch offices, which often involves supporting a small number of users for a very high cost. In fact, due to the high cost of networking branch offices, these locations often go without access to key features such as extension dialing to other offices. Broadwing’s new VoIP service solves this problem by making it affordable to extend voice networking to all of an enterprise’s locations. The service enables convenient features such as intra-company four-digit dialing between nationwide offices, without requiring any modification to end user equipment.

“VoIP adoption is much more pervasive in the residential, small and medium-sized business markets than it is in the large enterprise sector. Unfortunately, the limited solution set and the complexity of implementing VoIP services in large, multi-location enterprises has hindered VoIP’s growth at the high end of the market,” said Mark Pugerude, senior vice president, marketing and business development for Broadwing. “Broadwing’s new VoIP Integrated Access service reinvents VoIP alternatives for the Fortune 1000 by streamlining the migration from plain old telephone services (POTS) to VoIP service.”

Key features of the VoIP Integrated Access services include:
·Inbound and outbound domestic nationwide long-distance calling
  ·International long-distance calling
·Inbound and outbound local calling in 23 major markets
·T1 Internet access with dynamic bandwidth allocation
  ·Voice virtual private networking (VPN)
  ·Toll-free services

As part of its unlimited local calling service package, Broadwing will also support standard local services such as directory listings, directory assistance, caller identification and enhanced 911.

“Thanks to Broadwing’s unique approach to VoIP communications, our company’s new VoIP service was up and running in three weeks,” said Matt Briggs, Partner of Single Path LLC, a Broadwing beta VoIP customer and Cisco IP Communications value added reseller. “The new service has allowed us to optimize our phone service and data bandwidth, in addition to helping us support mobile worker applications more effectively - with absolutely no disruptions in communications.” According to a recent report by Infonetics Research, North American VoIP service topped $1.3 billion in 2004 and is expected to soar 1,431 percent to $19.9 billion in 2009.
